The Mars Gaming series was born with the purpose of creating hardware with a somewhat aggressive design based on the world of video games at a very low price that still maintains a minimum of quality. At Gizlogic we use your mouse every day and we are very happy with it, and that is why now at Gizcomputer we want to tell you about the Tacens Mars Gaming 700W, a power supply quite suitable for low / mid-range equipment at a very attractive price. . We tell you everything about her.
Tacens MP700 design.
The Tacens MP700 makes use of an ATX format casing, where, as is common in most power supplies, black is the protagonist, with a semi-gloss finish in this specific case. The touch of color is put on a sticker with the power distribution of the different rails, as well as the 12cm fan located at the bottom of it.
It is appreciated that the source has Switch on and off (even some much more expensive sources omit it), but as a point to criticize highlight the fact that only the power cable of the board is sheathed, while the other cables (not modular) are more prone to electromagnetic interference and the wear
The length of each wiring it is not very high, despite the publicity of Tacens, so we are not looking at a source focused on large towers, but rather on compact PCs and semi-towers.
Comment on its technical specifications.
We are facing a 700w source, with a 12 cm fan that arrives with a noise of 14 dB, although as it usually happens, this measurement is never real and the most normal thing is that the fan is around 30 dBs, something that is already done inaudible inside a box.
We are talking about a low cost source, and that is why you have to take those 700w with enough caution, since Tacens announces that the source complies with the european standards and that it is prepared for new Intel Haswell processors (“sleep modes”), but at no time do we have no 80+ certification, something that obviously has a lower cost, but that puts us in a situation of a discrete quality circuitry.
We do know that the Tacens Mars Gaming 700W has Active PFC, which allows a stable conversion of alternating current into direct current and efficiently compensates for fluctuations in the electrical supply, something that extends the life of the rest of the components of our computer.
Efficiency, According to Tacens, it is 85% (ECOlogical Design 85+), but as we say, this is a piece of information that must be taken with caution, since we do not have official certification in this regard, nor is it specified under what load this efficiency is achieved (no there is an efficiency curve).
If we stop to observe the distribution of the rails, we find a correct amperage for the 3.3 and 5V lines, and with some remarkable 42A on 12 volt linecapable of offering, according to the manufacturer, a total power of 552 watts. But although it might seem that with this power we have more than enough to mount a powerful sli with graphics that consume between 150 and 200W, this idea goes out of our head when we see that the manufacturer only offers two 6 + 2 pin connectors, or what is the same, it is no longer saying that we either connect two low-consumption graphics (only a 6-pin connector) or a single very powerful one, but that we forget to mount two graphics with double power, because the source does not gives for so much.
The rest of connectors It also remains correct, and shows once again that we are facing a source suitable for modest equipment, since we only have 4 SATA connectors, and another 4 4-contact connectors, the anecdotal being the presence of a floppy drive connector.

Conclusions, availability and price of the Tacens Mars Gaming 700W.
We are facing a source capable of combining a very adjusted quality-price ratio and that will be a good motor for low-medium cost equipment with a consumption that ranges between 200 and 400 watts at most. Let’s not forget that almost all sources tend to obtain their maximum efficiency at half load, and being a low quality circuitry, we do not recommend using it for more demanding equipment. As an example, we would recommend it to cheaply expand the power of the ASUS A31AD-SP004D that we analyzed the other day, since it would allow us to install a mid-range graphics with peace of mind.
User feedback is good in general, with some users talking about faulty sources, but with the majority using it for mid-range equipment without problems and with oscillations in the 12V rail that dropped to 11.8v under load, something that It falls within the Intel standard and gives us some peace of mind.
